Understanding the Issue

Use this document to troubleshoot problems with receiving unwanted text or picture messages on Android devices.

 


 

Resolution Steps by Scenario

Choose a scenario:

 

 


Facebook notifications from short code 32665xxx

Messages from the short code range 32665xxx are Facebook notifications.

 

  1. Log into facebook mobile account settings to verify facebook mobile is deactivated.
  2. Send a message containing the text OFF to 32665. This will deactivate Facebook Mobile text messages. Monitor usage for a day or two.
  3. If you are still having the issue, contact us.

 

 

 

 

 

Messages from 10076200000 and 10076400000

 

If you are still having this issue, contact us.

 

 

 

 

 

Messages from 10476000000

 

  1. If your previous device is still available, insert their SIM card into your previous device that supported Consumer E-mail and remove the e-mail address.
  2. If you are still having this issue, contact us.

 

 

 

 

 

Messages from an e-mail address (short codes 3700/35xx)

 

Note: Filters set on My T-Mobile only work on messages sent to your device's T-Mobile e-mail address (phone number@tmomail.net) delivered to the handset via SMS or MMS.

 

  1. Reply STOP to the message.
  2. For Windows Live:
    1. Sign into Windows Live.
    2. Select Inbox.
    3. Select Options.
    4. Select More Options.
    5. Select Reading Email.
    6. Select  Mobile Alerts For New Messages.
    7. Select Sign Up For Windows  Live Alerts.
    8. Unchecked Hotmail.
    9. Press Save.
  3. Log in to My T-Mobile.
    Note: If you are using a BlackBerry device, you will need to change your device to a make/model other than a BlackBerry. Some options referenced below will not appear if a BlackBerry device is selected. You may change your account device selection back to BlackBerry once you've complete the below steps.
  4. Select Mobile Life, E-mail and text tools.
  5. Under E-mail filters and spam blocking, select Create e-mail filters.
  6. Click Create filter. The Create/edit a new filter form displays.
    Note: If either radio buttons are set to Yes, T-Mobile cannot resend your MyT-Mobile password if you lose it.

  7. Complete the filter form fields as follows:
    • If the ( Subject / To / From )
      • Select From to block a specific sender.
      • Select Subject to block all messages with a certain topic.
    • (Does not contain / Contains ) ________________
      • Enter the sender's address or the topic to block.
    • Then (Do not send to handset and do not forward / Do not send handset but forward email To / Send to handset and forward To / Send to handset only)
      • Select the desired option.
    • To ___________________
      • If you selected Do not send handset but forward email to or Send to handset and forward to, enter the forwarding information here.
  8. Click Save.
  9. If you are still having this issue, contact us.

 

 

 

 

 

Messages from a mobile number

 

  1. T-Mobile cannot selectively block message from other mobile numbers unless you subscribe to Family Allowences.
    • With Family Allowances, the parent subscriber can add the number to the Never Allowed
  2. Messaging apps can some times cause problems with unwanted text messages (Example: Spy SMS Control). Remove these apps and see if this resolves the issue.
  3. You have the option to block all messages coming to your mobile number.
  4. You have the option to change your mobile number.

 

 

 

 

 

Messages from a short code


Follow the instructions for the appropriate short code.

 

4000 range


Messages received from the 4000 range are from the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) service. Walk the customer through signing out of AIM:

 

  1. Send a blank text message to 4647. This is the short code command to sign out of AIM.
  2. Confirm that you receive a sign out confirmation text message.
  3. If you are still having this issue, contact us.

 

265000 range


Messages received from the 265000 range are from the AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) service IM2CELL. Walk through signing out of the AIM IM2CELL service:

 

  1. Send a text message containing the word Out to 265023. This is the short code command to sign out of AIM IM2CELL.
  2. Confirm that you receive a sign out confirmation text message.
  3. If you are still having this issue, contact us.

 

 

1515 - 1517 range

Messages received from the 1515 - 1517 range are alerts from Aspiro games, specifically: 
  • 1515 - M-Cupid
  • 1516 - Love Game
  • 1517 - T-Mo Pet
Access the game on T-MobileWeb / Web2Go and turn off the alerts.  If you are still having this issue, contact us.

 

 

406000 or 456000 range


Messages received from the 406000 or 456000 range are from the MSN Mobile Messenger service. Walk through blocking MSN Mobile Messenger contacts:

 

  1. Send a text message to 406000 or 456000 containing ?d [e-mail address of the contact they would like to lock] to block the contact.
    Example: ?d John@email.com
  2. Confirm that you receive a confirmation message that you have been blocked.
  3. If you are still having this issue, contact us.

 

 

4670 - 4704 range

Messages received from the 4670 - 4704 range are from the Wireless Village messaging services.
  1. Reply to the message with the word Stop.
  2. Confirm that you receive a confirmation messages.
  3. If you are still having this issue, contact us.
  4. If the issue persists, transfer the call to Technical Care.

 

 

92000 range


Messages received from the 92000 range are from the Yahoo! Messenger service. Walk through logging out of Yahoo! Messenger:

 

  1. Send a blank text message to 92002. This is is the short code command to log out of Yahoo! Messenger.
    Note: If your device does not allow a blank text message, you can put "out" in the message to sign out.
  2. Confirm that you receive a confirmation message.
  3. If you are still having this issue, contact us.

 

 

Other short codes


Message received from other short code ranges could be from other Instant Messaging services, Over-the-Air (OTA) updates, or a Direct to Customer (D2C) provider.

 

  1. Reply to the message with the word Stop.
  2. If you are still having this issue, contact us.
