Note, I've been trying to post this for a while. If it shows up suddenly more than once, blame it on the system...
T-Mobile has announced (and the signs are in their stores) that they now will cover international data roaming in over 100 countries. That is great for me as I go to Europe/Asia/South America/Central America about once every 3-6 months. However, the devil is in the details.
When I talked to the people at my local T-Mobile store, they said that ONLY 2G data roaming is covered. If I data roam on 3G or 4G, I will still get the HUGE bills that we've all read about. I don't want that. The people at the store gave me a complicated method of assuring I won't get a $1000 bill for a week in Europe. The process was:
1. Set my "Network Mode" to "GSM only"
2. Activate "Data roaming"
3. Hope that works
Since they had nothing in writing to assure me that the method would work, I would like to hear from someone official (T-Mobile) as to EXACTLY how that "international data roaming" feature works and how I can use it.
I am honestly tired of having to get a new pre-paid SIM card for my phone every time I go overseas.
