Understanding the Issue

Use this document to troubleshoot a problem with the calendar or contacts deleted on an Android phone. If an Android device is set to Sync with google or other account and the device does not have a data page, the sync process can cause data(particularly Contacts and Calendar entries) to be deleted shortly after they are added.

For Android 2.1+ devices, the only contacts that will have this issue is ones that are set as google contacts, if they are added as SIM, Phone, etc, they will not delete.

Help & How to

To resolve this issue, follow the below steps:

  1. Turn off Synchronization for the contacts:
    • Android 1.5-1.6
      1. From the home screen, press Menu.
      2. Select Settings.
      3. Select Data Synchronization.
      4. Uncheck the Contacts & Calendar checkbox.
