Clearing data from an application will delete any data stored in that application, such as settings, login information, and saved games. If you don't want to clear all the data from the application, try clearing cache first and test. If you still experience problems, then clear data too.
- Some applications show an option for both clearing cache and data.
- Some applications show an option only to clear cache or only to clear data.
Resolution Steps
To clear the cache and data, follow the steps for you version of Android:
Android 4.0
- From the Setting menu, touch Apps or Application Manager.
Note: This may be on the More tab. - Verify the All tab is selected.
- Find and touch the desired application.
- Touch Clear Cache and Clear Data.
Android 2.2 / 2.3
- From the Home screen, press Menu.
- Touch Settings.
- Touch Applications.
- Touch Manage Applications.
- Verify the All tab is selected.
- Find and touch the desired application.
- Touch Clear Cache and Clear Data.
Android 2.1
- From the Home screen, press Menu.
- Touch Settings.
- Touch Applications.
- Touch Manage Applications.
- Press Menu.
- Touch Filter.
- Touch All.
- Find and touch the desired application.
- Touch Clear Cache and Clear Data.
Android 1.5 / 1.6
- From the Home screen, press Menu.
- Touch Settings.
- Touch Applications.
- Touch Manage Applications.
- Find and touch the desired application.
- Touch Clear Cache and Clear Data.
